Q

What does the illumination of the SYS ON light mean? Does this mean that all the masks have deployed?

A

The signal has been sent to release the oxygen mask doors, but some masks may have to be deployed manually.

Q

How is the crew oxygen mask microphone deactivated when the mask is stowed?

A

The RESET control slide will accomplish this – it does not happen automatically.

Q

What indication would a pilot have of a crew oxygen cylinder thermal discharge?

A

The green disk on the lower left side of the forward fuselage would be missing.

Q

What do the minimum oxygen bottle pressure quantities guarantee?

A

• Preflight checks
• The use of oxygen, when only one flight crewmember is in the cockpit
• Unusable quantity (to ensure regulator operation with minimum pressure) ‐
Normal system leakage
• The most demanding case among the following:
Protection after loss of cabin pressure, with mask regulator on
NORMAL (diluted oxygen):
During emergency descent for all flight crewmembers and
observers for 15 minutes
During cruise at FL100 for two flight crewmembers for 105
minutes.
• Protection against smoke with 100% oxygen for all flight crewmembers and
observers during 15 minutes at 8,000 ft cabin altitude.
