info given to a performer that involves them being physically moved into a correct position so they can feel how the skill is meant to be

advantages of manual guidance

good for complete beginners
development of correct feeling
movement can feel different if someone else is moving your body
could be uncomfortable
what is mechanical guidance
how?
info given to a performer that involves equipment to assist the learning process
floats or harnesses
advantages of mechanical guidance
disadvantages
good for potentially dangerous skills
allow performer to gain confidence in a movement without fear
equipment can be expensive
performer may become to dependent on the aid
