What are some RED FLAGS at 4-6 months?
No smile, no grasp, no rolling, poor head control
What are some milestones at 6-9 Months?
Crawling sits without support pulls to stand gives toy on request turns head to name responds to bye bye gestures with babbling first tooth
What are some red flags at 6-9 months?
No response to words lack of eye contact or facial expression no gestures no passing of toys from hand to hand not sitting without support or crawling
What are some 7-12 month milestones?
- develops a pincer grasp
- plays peak a boo
- walks with hands held

12-15 months milestones
- single words
- listens to stories
- drinks from cup
12 Month RED FLAGS
- Unable to pick up small items
- Not crawling or bottom shuffling
- Not pulling to stand
- no babbled phrases
What are some 18 month milestones?
- speaks up to 6 words
- able to walk up stars
- walks independently
- names pictures
- scribbles
- builds with blocks
18 Month Red Flags
- Uninterested in playing with others
- No clear words
- Not walking without support
- Not able to hold crayon
- unable to stack 2 blocks
1.5 - 2 year milestones
- kicks or throws a ball
- 2 word sentences
- runs
- follows a 2 step command
- stacks 5-6 blocks
- turns pages
- uses a spoon
- helps with dressing
2 YEARS RED FLAGS
has < 50 words
difficulty holding small objects
unable to climb stairs
no interest in feeding or dressing
What symptoms come under the RED LIGHT category for seriously ill children?
Pale, mottled, ashen or blue skin Doesn't stay awake when roused Decreased consciousness Decreased skin turgor Any GRUNTING signs
What are GRUNTING signs?
Grunting
Rib recession, retraction of sternomastoid, nasal flaring, stridor, wheeze
Unequal / unresponsive pupils, marked hypotonia, focal CNS signs
Not using limbs, decorticate or decerebrate
T >= 38 if <6m or >39
I have a bad feeling
Neck rigidity, non-blanching rash and signs of meningism
Green bile in vomit
What are the expected observations for a child younger than 1
RR: 30-40
HR: 110-160bpm
SBP: 70-90mmHg
What are the expected observations for a child aged 2-5y
RR: 20-30
HR: 95-140bpm
SBP: 80-100mmHg
What are the expected observations for a child aged 5-12yr
RR: 15-20
HR: 80-120bpm
SBP: 90-110mmHg
What are the expected observations for a child aged 12+
RR: 2-16
HR: 60-100bpm
SBP: 100-120mmHg
