Free hand drawing
Uses no equipment apart from a pen/pencil.
Is good for initial ideas as it is the quickest method of drawing.
Can combine 2d and 3d drawings to explain details.
Have annotations to describe materials and processes.
System diagrams
A flow chart for ideas with an input a process and an output. Helps develop a basic system design. Annotations should include components or mechanisms and describe what it does. Free hand drawings can also be added but the annotations are the most important.
Schematic Diagrams
Shows the layout of electrical amnd mechanical systems. Easy to draw and read. They are simplified to do this, for example a car engine could be shown as a box. Sometimes used in repair manuals to show how to connect components together. An example of this is a circuit diagram.
Exploded diagrams.
An assembly diagram. Shows how to fit things together to assemble. Parts are all shown seperatley but lined up and connected with dots showing how the product should be put together. Often sent to manufacturers and given in flat pack furniture packs.
