Personal world view-What is your world view?

A
  • it is wrong to be racism and everyone should be held at equal value for their colour, and culture
  • governments should not try to make people equal in society based on their socio-economic status, by taxing more money from those who make more money
  • passion towards helping keep our earth clean and reduce pollution
  • everything on earth is important whether it is nature, or humans because we are all connected
  • our world can be both spiritual and material meaning there is meaning behind a view that it was created by a god, but there is also meaning behind a view that says law and ways are determined by science
  • it is important for everyone to have the freedom to choose their own values

  • passed on traditions and beliefs from my parents and grandparents, such as my view against racism
  • events and issues I study in school, such as environmental views
  • experiences I have gone through including things I see around me in my everyday life, such as ideas from the media

A
  • solidify
  • learned more about what I believe in, gives me a stronger opinion in those areas
  • ex. I have adopted my ideas about the environment and nature from the indigenous world views we have looked over in class. After expanding my knowledge, I learned that I strongly agree with part of the indigenous views as I listed in my personal worldview

Historical and current day society-What are past and present social issues?

A
  • past: poverty and racism
  • ex. Imperialism: racism when the British took over South Africa and forced black people into slavery and poor treatment
  • present: racism and drug abuse
  • ex. Our society has developed into a place where drugs and alcohol are very common and we often hear stories of that topic resulting in death

Historical and current day society-What are social, political, and economic issues from the time periods we have studied?

A
  • French revolution
  • economic: country was in debt(Marie Antoinette’s spending/ King Louis XVI taxed more money from poor than rich)
  • social: major poverty(King Louis XVI did not work to help lower class so when he ran out of money he took from the poor)
  • political: poor leadership from the monarchy(King Louis XVI continued to hog good when country was starving/ Marie Antoinette over spent countries money)

  • poverty is still an issue though our government works towards helping it, rather than making it worse
  • main issue is not poor leader ship because we decide who leads us
  • still suffer from racism

  • welcome place for everyone
  • somewhere comfortable to be
  • living conditions under less stress
  • kind citizens(no murders or other intentional hurtful things done by people)
  • ability to do interests without paying

A
  • social: respect all religions, communal approaches to education, no racism, controlled media so people don’t feel they need to look a certain way
  • political: use power to protect and keep peace and not to seek war, eliminate redistribution of income and wealth
  • economic: sustainable food, sustainable energy, controlled use of materials that negatively impact the environment

  • communal approaches to recreation(everyone gets a chance to join)
  • high level athletes and teams are strongly supported by community
  • balance between society, shared interest, and individuality, spirituality

Create a plan-What are current obstacles that are in the way of your ideal society?

A
  • people don’t accept others for who they are or what they believe in
  • there are acts of racism everyday
  • society is controlled by the idea that people need to look a certain way
  • upper class is taxed more which isn’t fair because they work hard to earn that money and more is taken from them than everyone else
  • too much pollution, deforestation, building over top of home lands for species, harming the environment to benefit humans

Create a plan-Create a plan for how you can overcome those obstacles, in order to achieve what you think is an ideal society.

A
  • change the media from telling people to look a certain way, to focusing on accepting everyone
  • giving people more freedom to explore other religions, or keeping the religions to individuals. (Build more religious churches or buildings)
  • punish acts of racism whether it is by law, or in schools, or work places
  • government taxes equal amount no matter what your socio-economic status
  • government controls and looks through any plans to raise the effect of pollution, and wrecking land even if it is private
