Particle Model Of Matter Flashcards
(6 cards)
What are solids?
Solids- strong forces of attraction hold the particles close together in a fixed and regular pattern
What are liquids?
Liquids- there are weaker forces of attraction between the particles. These particles are close together but can move past each other and form irregular patterns
What are gases?
Gases- there are almost no forces of attraction between the particles. The particles have more energy than in liquids and solids- they’re free to move, and they move at various speeds and directions
What creates pressure?
Pressure is created by gas particles colliding into each other
What is the equation for density?
Density= mass divided by volume
Who discovered the electron particles?
J.j Thompson
