Parts of the brain Flashcards
(5 cards)
Frontal Lobe
The functions of the frontal lobe are numerous. It is associated with higher cognitive functions, such as decision making, motivation, problem-solving, planning and attention.
Temporal Lobe
are visual, olfactory, and auditory processing and memory creation. It also plays important roles in emotional responses and communication.
Occipital Lobe
The occipital lobe participates in vision processing. It processes and interprets everything we see.
parietal Lobe
One involves sensation and perception and the other is concerned with integrating sensory input, primarily with the visual system.
Functions of Gila
four parts: Astrocytes (provide nutrients, take glucose and break it down for the brain, protect brain, communication, replicate easily, cause brain tumors)
Microglia (10-15% of all cells in brain, destroy pathogens, clear out damaged neurons, pruners)
Oligodendrocytes CNS
Schwann cells PNS
