Describe the clinical presentation of a Basal Cell Carcinoma

A
  1. Transluscent, pearly, appearance with smooth surface
  2. Some pigmentation, telangiectases
  3. Ulceration in more advanced lesions

Describe the pathological features of BCC

A

Cells: dermal nests of basaloid cells surrounded by rims of mucin. Sometimes there is melanin.

Location: in basal layer, overlying epidermis usually intact but there can be ulceration in more advanced cases
