The town is compared to a colonial animal that has a nervous system and head, shoulders and feet and the town has a whole emotion

Priest: He thinks about the church repairs and wonders how much the pearl is worth .
Shopkeepers: They look at their unsold clothes, thinking about the pearl’s impact
Doctor: He becomes serious and remembers his life in Paris, feeling a mix of pride and judgment .
Beggars: They giggle happily, knowing that a poor man suddenly lucky is like getting alms
How does the narrator describe the town? Explain the metaphor used
The town is described like a colonial animal because it acts like one body when new spreads everyone reacts together as if they’re connected
Why does KINO suddenly become every man’s enemy? What effect is the pearl having on the town? Are kino and Juana aware of these changes ?
Kino becomes every man’s enemy because the pearl makes people jealous and greedy, spreading evil in the town, but Kino and Juana don’t notice these changes.
How is the news of the pearl compared to the poisonous thing of the scorpion? 
The news about the pearl was like the poisonous scorpion. It brought bad feelings, fear, and trouble in the town, stirring up jealousy and hostility.
What did Kino Say he will do once the pearl is sold.
Kino plans to use his newfound wealth to marry Juana in the church, buy new clothes for his family, get a new harpoon, buy a rifle, and send his son Coyotito to school so he can learn to read and write
What does Kino say he will do once the pearl is sold
He said he will marry in the church and buy her a new shawl and new skirt and shoes and dress himself with new white clothes and lace shoes and dress coyotito in a blue sailor suit from the US and a little yachting hat. He also plans on buying a harpoon and rifle
Why does Kino feel rage when the doctor approaches?
KINO feels rage when the doctor approaches because of the long history of being treated unfairly and badly by people like him. He’s afraid the doctor doesn’t really care about saving his baby.
Why does the the priest visit KINO and JUANA ? What song does KINO hear when the priest visit?
The priest wanted to visit juana and kino because he has heard about the pearl kino found wanting to bless them and reminding kino to thank god for the treasure, when the priest visited kino heards a faint,weak music of evil ,which contrasts with the music of hope of the pearl
What does the doctor give coyotito
The doctor gives coyotito medicine in the form of white powder to help fight the poison of the scorpion sting and later uses drops of ammonia to help fight the poison
How did the doctor find out where KINO has hidden the pearl
The doctor notices Kino’s eyes looking toward the floor near the side post of the brush house, where the pearl is buried, and he suspects Kino might have hidden it there .
After the intruder is drivven off what does juana say of the pearl , why?
After the intruder has driven off juana says the pearl is evil and will destroy them because it has brought danger and fear into their homes
Why is kino afraid of making plans? 
Kino is afraid to ask for too much or make big plans because he thinks god might punish him for trying to control his own success

- Shopkeepers: They hope Kino will buy more things from their shops.
- Beggars: They feel happy and hope Kino might give them some money.
- Doctor: He wants to get paid because Kino is now richer.
- Pearl Buyers: They want to buy the pearl for cheap and make money from it later.
What happens when the doctor returns? 
When the doctor returns, he quickly takes charge, examines Coyotito again, uses ammonia drops to fight the poison, and says he thinks he can save the baby .

Kino begins to hear the song of evil, a dark dangerous feeling that brings fear and anger and warns him from threats around him 
What did kino think about the doctors treatment?
Kino was suspicious and didn’t trust the doctor. He felt the doctor only came because he heard about the pearl.
What did coyotito feel after the treatment?
After the treatment, Coyotito felt peace and stopped crying. He seemed calmer and less in pain, which made Kino hopeful.
Where did kino hide the pearl thesecond time?
Kino hid the pearl under his sleeping mat to keep it safe and close
What had happened during the night
Someone came into their house and tried to steal the pearl. Kino fought them off but was injured in the process.
What music kino hear at the end of ch3 looking at the pearl?
The music of promise and delight , it’s guarantee of the future, comfort and security as kino stared his eyes softned and his face relaxed
