What is peat?
Partially decomposed plant material which has been pressed under waterlogged conditions.
What colour is peat ?
A mostly black colour

Give an example of peat plants.
Sphagnum moss, bladderwort, sundew, bog cotton,heather sedges, grasses etc.
What is different about peat plants compared to normal plants?
They accumulate and hold more moisture making the area wetter.
Give examples of peat animals.
Curlew, hare, rabbit, fox, frog, grouse, Beatles, hen harrier meadow pipes etc.
How are peatlands being destroyed?
Cutting turf, peat for gardening(compost), dumping rubbish on, grazing sheep, draining.
Why should peatlands be protected?
They contain rare plants that are only found in bogs.
Why else should peatlands be protected?
To be analysed for historical info about our climate and vegetation.They also have preserved artifacts and bodies!
What are in peatland parks now to stop people trampling over peat?
