-Spread out, small tribes
-Not as developed (only about 100-200 people in a tribe)
-Different dialects
-Lifestyles differ based on religion

-Tribes: Navajo, Pueblo, Apache
-Lived in New Mexico, Nevada which were deserts, dry, and lacked resources
-Had irrigation system because there was no large bodies of water
-Violent, went to war, (Pueblo revolt)
-First to fight colonizers
Great Plains
-Nomadic tribes
-Located in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Midwest; lived off buffalo
-Hunt & gather, nomadic based off where buffalo are
-Used every piece of buffalo and followed them
Northwest tribes
-Tribes: Kwakuitl, Chinook
-Located in Washington, Vancouver, and Oregon which were wet and cold
-Spears, boats, and salmon (most important animal/food)
-Fishermen
Northeast tribes
-Iroquois Confederation: 5 tribes came together to form the confederation; first political organization in modern day U.S.
-Located in Ohio River Area, and Mohawk Valley NY
-First to interact with English Colonists in North America
