religious revival emphasizing personal faith and emotional expression. Questioning the church’s Authority caused the colonists to question the British Authority

Bacon’s Rebellion 1676 – 1677
was the first popular uprising in the American colonies. It was long viewed as an early revolt against English tyranny. the result of this Uprising was in Virginia and neighboring Colonies turned away from using indentured servants and began to invest in slavery instead.
indentured servants
A person under contract to work for another person for a definite period of time, usually without pay but in exchange for free passage to a new country.
The pequot War 1636-1638
an armed conflict that took place in New England between the Pequot Tribe and an alliance of English colonies of the Massachusetts Bay. In the end the Pequot were defeated and hundreds of prisoners were sold into slavery to the West Indians
New France
when the French came to the Americas instead of colony they had the goal of trade for fish and fur. Unlike the other colonies I look good relationships with the natives and some French men even married natives
New Netherlands & New Amsterdam
Dutch had the goal of growing their economy when coming to America they traded along the Hudson River and set up New Amsterdam which was a trading Hub in 1624
(Protestant and didn’t try to convert the natives)
New England
in 1620 settled by pilgrims they wanted to set up a society in the Americas and didn’t have a goal of wealth like the other colonies

pilgrims signed this before they left which organized their government on self-governing churches congregations

Stono Rebellion
Carolina a small group of slaves stole weapons from a store and marched along the Stono River and many slaves joined their marches they burned down plantations and killed a white people
social contract
it’s when a group of people agree to give up certain rights and accept a central authority in order to protect their other rights
