Forced to surrender after digging in on the fourth of July, 1754, after a 10 hour long siege.
Albany Congress
A union between seven of the thirteen colonies to protect themselves from outside threats devised by Benjamin Franklin.
Start of the Seven Years’ War for the British
Many British defeats ruining their image as an invincible force and making colonies view them more negatively.
Turning point in the Seven Years’ War
General William Pitt managed to conquer all of Canada starting in 1758 taking Louisbourg, then Quebec, Followed by Montreal. Eventually, the peace settlement at Paris was signed taking France of of North America.
Pontiac’s War
A Native American uprising in 1763 that almost took all British influence out of the territory west of the Appalachians.
Radical Whigs
A group of British commentators who feared the crown due to it threatening Liberty. It was one of the two main roots of revolution.
Admiralty Courts
Startec during Grenville’s rule in parliament, it was a court without jury and also working with guilty until proven innocent standards.
Stamp Act Congress
A union between 9 colonies to protest the widely unpopular Stamp Act.
Sugar Act
An act passed in 1764 that marked the first attempts to tax the colonies done by the British.
Quartering Act(1765)
An act passed in 1765 that forced colonies to provide shelter for British troops stationed there.
Stamp Act
A very controversial British Taxing measure that was a softer version of an existing version in London.
Declaratory Act
An act passed in 1766 that declared parliament as being able to do anything they wanted in the colonies.
Townshend Acts
A collection of taxes passed on 1767 by Parliament which expanded on pre-existing laws which was negatively received due to timing, resulting to a profit of 295 pounds.
Boston Massacre
The result of the Protest in 1770 in Boston which after increasing tensions, ended with british troops opening fire on the colonists.
Boston Tea Party
The destruction of tea done by the sons of liberty in 1773.
Intolerable Acts
Acts viewed as the most drastic infringement of the rights of colonists beginning in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party.
Quartering Act(1774)
An expansion to the original Quartering Act that allowed for troops to live in colonists’ homes.
First Continental Congress
A delegation of 12 of the 13 colonies which discussed how to respond to the intolerable acts that would meet again in 1775.
The Association
An entity formed by the First Continental Congress to boycott British Goods.
Quebec Act
An Act that gave much of the recently obtained land west of the Appalachians to the province of Quebec passed in 1774 and perceived as one of the Intolerable Acts.
