Peripheral Nervous System Flashcards
(16 cards)
Location of PNC
Located outside the CNS. Subdivided into somatic and automatic nerves it consists of 12 cranial nerves and 36 spinal nerves
Function of PNS
it conducts nerve impulse from Receptor to CNS along the sensory neuron
Conducts conducts nerve impulse from CNS to the effector along the motor neuron
Automatic nervous system has to do with involuntarily action
Position
Function
Position
-Consiste of the sympathetic and parasympathetic
Function
-controls all involuntarily action
Sympathetic
- controls activities that increase amount of energy we use
- prepares body for figh or flight response
Parasympathetic system
- control activities that decrease amount of energy we use
- cause rest and digest to occur
Sensory neuron
Conduct impulse from Receptor to CNS
Sensory neuron
Conduct impulse from Receptor to CNS
Motor neuron
Conducts nerve impulse from the CNS to the effector
Interneuron nerves
Connects sensory and motor neuron in CNS
Direction of impulse
Always
Dendrite》cell body 》axon
Relax action
Fast automatic involuntarily response
Relax arc
Fast involuntarily response of muscle or gland
Significance of reflex arc
It’s a rapid action prevents the body from further injuries
Disorder of CNS
Alzheimers and multiple sclerosis
Alzhymus
