- Common: headache, nausea, GI disturbances
- Serious: GI bleeding

- Serious: respiratory depression (will see a change in mental status before you see respiratory depression)

- Common: Depression/euphoria, hypertension, immune suppression
- serioius: peptic ulceration, thromboembolism
- Serious side effects significantly effected by route of delivery and duration of usage
What are the therapeutic effects of local anesthetics?
- block afferent and efferent action potential propagation along the neuronal axons
- can’t move muscle and can’t feel pain
- can also be used to treat cardiac arrhythmias

- common: confusion and drowsiness
- serious: cardiac arrest, seizures, allergic reactions
- can have effect on CV system and CNS
