Comprehension exceeds production.
Child understands and knows what they want to say but is unable to produce the word as they don’t have the motor skills.

Mastering intonation continues into teens. Football scores -> went up for the winning team and down for the losing team but stayed the same if a draw. Adults were able to predict but even oldest teens couldn’t match the adults.
