A
- a lipid
- each molecule has soluble and unsoluble side in water
- glycerol group and the phosphate has high amount lf oxygen and so interacts with water
- hydrophilic - polar - fatty acids tail have no oxygen atoms, do not interact with water
- hydrophobic - non-polar

A
- structure - in biological membranes
- electrical insulation - surrounds the axons of nerve cells
