What is physical fitness

A

The ability to perform physical tasks efficiently and effectively
Physical fitness is a relative concept
You can be fit for one task not another eg an athlete could win in shootout but doesn’t have the fitness to run 10,000m

Fitness for health vs performance

A

Baseline for physical fitness is 40-60%
Performance related is 60-80%
Peak is 80-100%

Quantity vs quality

A

Quantity is good for elite performance eg 4-5 sessions, quality is useful for peak performance

Aerobic energy production

A

Determined by the ability of the respiratory and circulatory system to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the working muscles and the ability of the muscles to use the supply
