1
Q

What is momentum?

A

momentum (p) = mass (m) * velocity (v)
ΣF prop. ( Δp)/( Δt)
It is a vector quantity.

Q

Question: Car of mass 800kg moving at 30ms^-1 brought by breaking force of 1200N.

A

initial momentum -> p=mv -> 800*30=2400kgms^-1

time taken to stop ΣF= Δp/ Δt -> 1200=2400/t = 20s

Q

What are suvat eq?

A

Equations of uniform acceleration. Thus only applies when acceleration is constant.
s = displacement, u = initial velocity, v = final velocity, a = acceleration, t = time.
Used for projectile motion.
