20
Q

Give advantage of Nuclear energy.

A

It produces a lot of energy
= 300 000 MJ
Greenhouse gas.

21
Q

Give disadvantage of Nuclear energy.

A

If there’s an accident then it can cause diseases such as cancer. (radioactive)

22
Q

What type of source is bio-fuel?

23
Q

Give advantages of bio-fuel.

A

High conductivity.

24
Q

Give disadvantages of bio-fuels.

A

does not hold as much power when compared to regular diesel or gasoline based fuels

25
What type of source is tidal energy?
Renewable.
26
Give advantages of tidal energy.
No carbon-dioxide is released. | No fuel needed.
27
Give disadvantages of tidal energy.
Loads of cables needed. Can ruin coastlines. Expensive
28
What is a series circuit?
The components are connected end-to-end, one after the another. They make a simple circuit for current to flow around. If one bulb is removed the whole circuit is broken and all the bulbs go out.
29
What is a parallel circuit?
The components are connected side-by-side. the current has a choice of paths/routes. If one bulb blows there would still be a circuit to the other bulb so it stays lit.
30
Define electricity.
Electricity is the flow of electrons.
31
A circuit must be...
complete for electricity to flow through.
32
What do electrical insulators do?
They prevent the flow of electricity.
33
Explain Series circuit further.
Current is the same at any point. | The voltage is also the same.
34
Explain parallel circuit further.
The circuit splits equally into the number of branches you have. The voltage is the SAME!
35
What is current measured in?
Amps (Ammeter)
36
What is voltage measured in?
Volts.
37
What is the resistance measured in?
Ohms.
38
Describe state of gases.
``` Particles are spread out. Random arrangement. Low density. Particles are free to move around. They have a lot of kinetic energy. ```
39
Describe the state of liquid.
Particles are randomly arranged. Not in a fixed position. Particles can move medium density. Not so much kinetic energy.
40
Describe the state of a solid.
Fixed shape/position. They cannot move but can vibrate in a fixed position. High density. No kinetic energy.
41
What is density?
The mass per unit volume.
42
What is specific latent heat?
The amount of energy required to change 1 kg of a substance.
43
What is independent variable?
something that you can change.
44
What is dependent variable?
something you measure.
45
What is control variable?
something that you keep the same.
46
What is latent heat of fusion?
the amount of energy needed to change a substance from a liquid to solid.
47
What is latent heat of vaporization?
the amount of energy needed to change a substance from gas to liquid.
48
What is specific latent heat?
the energy needed to change a substance from a solid to a liquid.
