What is an MPE?
A Medical Physics Expert is an individual who has the knowledge, training and experience to act or give advice on IR(ME)R17
List some roles of an Operator under IR(ME)R17
Practical aspects of exposure
Optimisation (ALARP doses, DRLs)
Authorisation of justification under authorisation guidelines issued by Practitioner
Read and comply with Employer’s procedures

Cooperate with other staff (share information, MDTs, ask for advice)

Is registration required to be an IR(ME)R17 Operator?
No - just trained and entitled by Employer’s Procedure, but Employer can specify registration as a criteria for certain tasks

Therapy - closely involved in all through equipment, commissioning, QC, optimisation, advice, protocols

What is the difference between an RPA and an MPE?
RPA -> IRR17 (advises)
MPE -> IR(ME)R17 (acts and advises)
