CMV

S aureus

What organism causes CAP and what are signs?
S pneumoniae

How would you investigate for TB?
Acid fast bacilli stain and culture for TB if relevant
How would you manage CAP?
Mild- Amox (doxy if pen allergic)
Mod- Amox and Clarith
Severe- Co-Amox and clarith
ALternatives- Cefuroxime and clarithromycin or benzylpenecillin
How would you treat pneumonnia caused by P aeruginosa?
IV Ceftazidime or Piperacillin-tazobactam and gentamycin/tobramycin/ciprofloxacin
WHat is the pneumococcal vaccine
Polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine
Who is indicated for the pneumonia vaccine?
> 65
Splenic dysfunction
Immunocompromised
Chronic condition
How do you treat HAP?
Meropenem and gentamycin, potentially with vancomycin to cover for MRSA
