My first reason why i think that Heaney is a good poet is because in the poem he uses lots of alliterations such as “counting bells knelling classes to a close.this is an alliteration because the first word in each letter starts with the letter C except knelling and bells.

M second point is that Heaney uses Metaphors in the poem such as “wearing a poppy bruise on his left temple” this is a metaphor because Heaney is co mparing the bruise to a poppy, this also could show a sign of remembrance in the poem.
