What is the first reading
Formal introduction of a Bill to the House of Commons or the House of Lords.
what is the second reading
It is when the main purpose of a Bill is discussed and voted on
what is the comitee stage
It is an opportunity for changes to be made to the wording or for new clauses to be added. as it is being scrutinised
What is the report stage
Report stage gives all members of the Lords a further opportunity to examine and make amendments to a bill.
What is the third reading
The final chance for the Commons to debate the contents of a Bill
What is the consideration of amendments stage
When a Bill has passed through the third reading in both Houses, it is returned to the House of lords for the House of commons amendments to be considered.
What is the royal assent stage
Royal Assent is the Monarch’s agreement to make the Bill into an Act and is a formality.
