- radio sets were confiscated from Jews before they were then banned from buying them
- banned from buying chocolate
- excluded from wartime rationing for clothing and shoes

A
- Jews sent to Ghettos (over crowded districts) had their homes confiscated with most Jews having to sell their valuables to survive

A
- Conditions in the ghetto were terrible
- Apartments crammed and few had running water)
- With no economic links to the outside world food and fuel was scarce
- Diseases in the ghettos spread rapidly

How did Jewish authorities respond to Ghettos?
A
- There was a black market for goods smuggled in from outside
- Jewish leaders organised prayers and religious festivals even though these were strictly forbidden
- Illegal schools and printing presses were set up
