Two German bishops in 968 were known as Poppo. Most likely is Folkmar of Cologne. Poppo of Wutzburg became a bishop in 961 (Widukind says that Poppo became a bishop after the ordeal). Folkmar- Folk- Populus- Poppo.

In response to Poppo’s ordeal, Adaldag returns to Bremen from Italy, ostensibly to place the deposed Pope Benedict V into safety but probably to collect documents defending Hamburg’s interests against claims from Cologne.
