Define Devolved Matters?
A
A power that has been given away to Scotland. I.E. Healthcare, Education etc

A
A power that has been reserved to the UK Parliament. I.E. Military

What is the role of the First Minister?
A
The First Minister is the political leader of Scotland and the head of the Scottish Government. They are responsible for the creation and development of government policy

What are the powers of the First Minister?
A
- Power of Appointment.
- Head of the Executive/Leader of the largest party.

Define the Power of Appointment.
A
The FM can hire and fire Ministers and Cabinet secretaries as and when she sees fit, she also has the power to re-shuffle the Cabinet. However, all of this needs to be approved by the Parliament.
