Powerful Intrests Flashcards
(6 cards)
Powerful interests:
KU: a pg which represents corporate views is more likely to be an insider group and therefore have more influence. Eg
CBI and the institute of directors work very closely with the govt.
A: this is important because if you’re in charge of a large business then you probably employ a lot of people and bring a lot of money into the economy
during a meeting they could probably try and get the govt to do things that would benefit them.
KU: a pg representing more disadvantaged people in society are often outsider groups instead and might not have a lot of influence. Eg
the children’s poverty action group which tries to make new policies to help families with children in poverty.
A: this is important because it means that these groups might not be as successful as insider groups since they might not contribute as much to the economy or employment so the govt might not listen to them as much.
E: this factor is important because it can often determine how much success a pressure group gets
since if you’re probably a benefit to the govt they’ll want more help from you.
