  • The HoL has the power to delay a piece of legislation for up to a year.
  • They cannot stop it, and the HoC can vote to bypass the HoL and pass legislation without the HoL approval after one year.
  • This rarely happens.
  • 2 examples are: The sexual offences amendment act 2000, The Hunting Act 2004.
