Can you give an example of a party whip?

A
  1. Party whips are senior MPs whose job is to keep party discipline, inform MPs about parliamentary business and discipline dissident MPs.
  2. Gavin Williamson - served as chief whip from 2016 - 2017 for the Conservative party. He was known for keeping a tarantula called Cronus on his desk. Multiple accusations were made about bullying MPs.

  2. Jeremy Corbin was elected by the constituency Islington North. He has been an MP since 1983, and stood as an independent MP in the 2024 election, having previously been the Labour Party MP. He won 49% of the vote share.
