How would I deal with arriving at a restaurant and there was no group reservation?

A

Find another restaurant nearby if this one doesn’t have room; attempt to split into smaller groups that either go to different restaurants or eat/shop and then switch

Q

If someone in the group got really far ahead what would you do?

A

First ask them if they would be alright with keeping with the group for the sake of keeping the groups together; if not then talk to other guests to see if they would also like to pick up the pace and if some would perhaps make a fast and slow group

Q

What do you feel is the most important characteristic to be successful with Backroads?

A

Ability to think on my feet- so much can happen/go wrong when traveling especially when coordinating trips as complicated as these and my experiences traveling have taught me how necessary it is to be flexible and quick to come up with a solution

Q

How do you handle an upset customer?

A

With as much compassion and professionalism as possible; I’d try to always present practical options for a customer to choose from and work with them until a compromise is made that they are satisfied with

Q

Do you agree ‘the customer is always right’?

A

I wouldn’t blindly say that- ie if a customer has a request that puts him/herself or others in danger, or wants something entirely unrealistic/impossible for me to make happen

Q

Tell me about a time you led a team; what was your biggest success factor?

A

I was the ops coordinator for a huge conference with 80 delegates from across the globe; i was in charge of getting them to and from the conference and their activities outside of it as well as coordinating volunteers;; my biggest success factor was probably my ability to think on my feet // ability to compromise and work quickly when plans had to change or something went wrong
