Insulin inhibits fatty aid oxidation in muscle

liver failure, kidney failure, malabsorption in the gut (crohn’s, ulcerative colitis)
What does the glucose tolerance test show when a person has growth hormone excess and when normal?
GH excess- growth hormone will remain high and not decrease, blood glucose will increase and cause insulin resistance and diabetes
Normal- growth hormone decreases when glucose is administered
Apart from D2 agonists and somatostatin analogues, what are other treatments for growth hormone excess?
Surgery, radio/chemotherapy
What affect does vasopressin have on corticotrophin?
VP increases corticotrophin release
What is terlipressin used in?
Targets V1 receptors and is used in oesophageal varices
What happens to total potassium levels in the body and in the plasma?
Total body K+ deficiency alongside a raised plasma K+ concentration
