These were a series of violent conflicts following the breakup of Yugoslavia, a socialist federation made up of six republics:
- Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992–1995) – The most brutal war, involving Bosniaks (Muslims), Croats, and Serbs. Marked by genocide, especially in Srebrenica.
- Kosovo War (1998–1999) – Conflict between Serbian forces and ethnic Albanians in Kosovo; NATO intervened with air strikes on Serbia.
