What are important topics to cover in the family history in preconception counseling?
Congenital disorders (esp. phenylketonuria, neural tube defects, chromosomal abnormalities), birth defects, twins or multips, infertility issues
In the medical history of a preconception client, what should you ask about?
Childhood diseases, hepatitis, vaccinations, risk factors for DM, TB, obesity
What is important information to ask in the gynecological history of a preconception client?
Birth control hx, length of pregnancy attempts, hormonal status (esp. progesterone), risk factors for breast CA, infxns, treatments for STI’s, risk behaviors
How about important obstetric information to know during preconception counseling?
Hx of premature labor, incompetent cervix, stillbirths, PIH/gestational diabetes
