Types of Packaging

A
  • Traditional - most commonly seen in OTC stock medications
  • unit dose packaging- single dose of a medication is sealed in plastic, usually with a foil backing
  • Blister packs - most common in long term care; also called bubble packs, punch cards, or bingo cards. multiple doses are sealed separately on the same plastic card with foil backing
