What is the difference between a primary and secondary headache?
Primary - no underlying cause (see progress test notes)
Secondary - cause
What are red flags for a headache?
SUDDEN
First and worst
Meningeal signs
Serious PMH - cancer, SLE , TB etc
What is cushings triad?
When does it occur
opposite to shock so:
Low HR
Raised BP
Low RR
Occurs in haemorrhage
What is the common presenation of raised ICP at the medial temperal lobe (Uncus)?
Ipsalateal 3rd nerve palsy - 1st nerve to go
Contrallateral hemiparesis
What can cause raised ICP?
Tumour
Stroke
Abscess
CVST
Idiopathic
What nerve can give a false localising sign?

General pressure can affect it
What is key with a facial nerve palsy?
UMN (stroke) or lower (Bells palsy)
