Ditcher- drains the bog
Grader-levels the bog
Miller- scrapes off the shallow layer of peat on top of the peat.
Harrow- is pulled by a tractor to Harrow or dry the bog.
Ridger- collects the peat into ridges and then it’s covered in plastic to be protect it from the rain.
It’s transported by light railways

A

Ireland fishing industry was small until they joined the EU. When they joined they gave control of its fisheries to Brussels and had to share their fishing seas with other countries. The catching of fish in numbers increases massively and the majority of fish caught are by foreign trawlers

Reasons for overfishing:

A

Too many well equipped trawlers are chasing too few fish, technology
When Ireland joined EU they gave up control of their waters and it was open to foreign trawlers
Juvenile fish are being caught because the nets have small mesh

A

Quotas are placed
Number of trawlers is reducing as fishermen can retire with an EU pension.
Nets mesh are bigger so juvenile fish can escape
Fishing season for some fish has been shortened
