meaning they’re part of the big trend to introduce academies and move away from the control of Local Education Authorities

Privatisation within education system
A
- Schools operate like private businesses
- Staff increasingly have performance targets e.g. performance-
related pay (only getting a pay rise based on
grades/attendance figures etc.) - Schools often have a marketing team to attract new students,
just as companies would - A focus on greater efficiency and profitability e.g. large class
sizes, teachers working extra hours and sponsorship by local
businesses - Schools are able to opt out of LEA control and manage
themselves - We’ve seen this already through the introduction of Academies

- Developing educational brands e.g google classroom
- Private investment in school buildings.
