ASB Early Intervention Scheme
ASB EIS has 3 key ares:
- Early intervention
- Increased intel capture which highlights safeguarding opportunities
- Improved info sharing & partnership working
Early intervention w/ young ppl doing ASB - can provide them help & put them on schemes etc w/ YOTs
ASB EIS benefits:
- Improve public confidence by reducing publics fear of ASB
- Reduce ASB-associated risk & harm through problem solving
- Reduce repeat victims
- Reduce offending
ASB isn’t always criminal - no offence for being antisocial
3 E’s of ASB EIS
1) EDUCATE
- Receive copy of warning, contaningin relevant powers & warning of their specific behaviour
2) ENGINEER A SOLUTION
- If person receives 2nd warning –> formal letter sent
- 3rd instance –> intervention visit by police & registered social landlord (where applicable).
- Diversion & support always offered at this stafge to offender & fam & consequences explained if ASB persists
3) ENFORCE
- If person commits a further ASB & refuse diversion/support –> case reviewed by police & partners to decide best course of action
- Could ultimately end in civil injunction e.g. if they are in local housing, could be moved out of area
