What is spirometry?
Process of measuring breathing.
What is auscultation?
Process of listening (pronounced with a silent ācā, like muscle).
What does endotracheal mean?
Pertaining to within the trachea (airway).
What is bronchoscopy?
Visually examining the bronchus (done with a bronchoscope).
What is lobectomy?
Surgical excision of one lobe of a lung.
What is pneumonectomy?
Surgical excision of the entire lung.
What is thoracentesis?
Surgical puncture to remove fluid from the thorax (also seen as thoracocentesis).
What is thoracotomy?
Surgical incision into the thorax.
What is tracheostomy?
Surgically creating an opening into the trachea.
What is cheiloplasty?
Surgical repair of the lip.
What is a bronchodilator?
Something that widens the bronchus (usually drugs like albuterol).
What is an expectorant?
Pertaining to getting out (cough medicine that promotes coughing).
