Why is it helpful to use production aid?
A
Allows for consistent shapes so the product will be more higher quality.

What are the properties of a template?
A
- Simple to make
- Must be strong and hardwearing for long term use.

A
- Guides tools
- Makes them correctly proportional
- Often specifically made for a certain tool or task eg. a drill jig

- Errors are reduced
- They all become identical
- Simplify the manufacturing

What are the benefits of using a template?
A
- Easy to use
- Saves time as there it is used for repeated shapes.

What is a mould?
A
- Used for plastics eg. drape forming, vacuum forming
- Accurate moulds create more accurate products.

What are the drawbacks of using a mould?
A
Unless being used for large batches, they are not cost effective.
They must be the exact size and can be expensive.
