What are the six steps to take in professional judgement?
1) What is the ethical/professional issue in question?
2)Gather all relevant info needed
3)identify possible options
4) Weigh up the options
5) Chose an option and justify it
6) Make a record, if you don’t write it down it technically didn’t happen
Example of professional judgement - Patient comes in after running out of clobazam, what do we need to weigh up?
- Why do they need it?
- What can happen if they don’t take it?
- Has the Rex been ordered? Is it a regular?
- CD4/5 can give a maximum of 5 days only - phenobarbital schedule 3- only for 5 days
What do we need to do when it comes to social media
Be very careful and use it responsibly
What is needed for professional development?
Yearly revalidation - in order to keep professional skills and knowledge up to day
Reflect on how to improve
Demonstrate to public and patients how we provide safe and effective care
How many CPD records are required?
4 CPD Records needed - 2 minimum planned, 2 unplanned, 1 peer discussion and 1 reflective account = altogether 6 in total
