progress task 4 Flashcards
(4 cards)
a student cut thin sections of tissue to view with an optical microscope. explain why it was important that the sections were thin. [2]
because the thin layer will be one cell thick/have one layer of cells [1],
then the sample needs to be thin enough to allow light to pass through [1],
therefore allowing the cells to be seen under a microscope.
a sample of cells from the small intestine of an animal were analysed. some of the cells had 6.8 units of DNA, others only had 3.4 units.
how many units of DNA would you expect to be present in a haploid cell in this animal? [1]
1.7
describe a consequence of too little apoptosis occurring in a multicellular organism. [2]
cancer [1]. this means that there is unregulated, uncontrolled cell division [1].
