Project Management Flashcards
(72 cards)
True statement of: Execute, Monitor & Control phases of a project
These phases are often concurrently or iteratively performed.
True statment of communications management for an office relocation?
Post-relocation orientation brochures can help employees find their way around.
Which pre-project actions reduce risk and increase the probability of project success?
Pre-selecting contractors sends out requests only to specific subcontractors who have been predetermined to be acceptable. Pre-qualifying contactors, bidder meetings, and bidder presentations are project-specific tasks and so would not be useful if run as a prior project.
In what document would the project manager be formally listed?
Project charter
In the project model, what do outputs from the Plan phase become?
The outputs from the plan phase become the inputs to the execute phase.
What do project managers submit when they suggest revising the project management plan to make it feasible given the current situations?
change order
When project managers determine the level of data to collect for monitoring and controlling project work, what do they not need to verify?
Data should be valid, timely, and cost effective. Cost effective also means that data collection should not delay project work.
Which document may include details such as adjacency diagrams, space standards, and information on current and future staffing count for business units?
A statement of requirements typically includes details such as adjacency diagrams, space standards, shared support area requirements, and information on current and future staffing count for business units.
In which scheduling methods are as many activities as possible concurrently performed?
Waterfall model scheduling
An organization gathers data on occupant space requirements, desired location, and desired cost per square meter (square foot). What other factors should be considered when listing site selection criteria?
Disired floor plan/stacking plan and desired amenities.
What is developed to review a final deliverable from an entire system perspective?
checklist reviews for final deliverables are a quality control tool developed to review a final deliverable from an entire system perspective. They are a quality control, not a quality assurance, test. A punch list/snagging list walkthrough is a detailed review rather than a big picture overview.
Which activity is set by policy at the start of a project?
Estimating is the only option that is set by policy. However, the other options my use estimating.
What is an advantage of using a standardized project management model?
The model is a framework that project managers can adapt to project specifics.
A true statement about the documentation for project closure?
Documentation may include operations and maintenance manuals
Which attribute most accurately describes a project?
Estimating
Which role helps ensure continued senior management/client support of major projects?
Project Champion
True statement about contract details
Non-typical materials or installation methods should not be included in the main body of a contractors proposal. If bidders are encouraged to suggest options such as alternate materials or methods there should be a section for alternates following the base bid.
True statement about the elements in a project objectives statement?
Milestones are points where major tasks are completed. Milestones are not set in the project objectives statement fora specific date unless the project has hard delivery dates, or predetermined dates that must be met for the project to be considered successful.
What should a facility manager do at the beginning of a routine project to achieve success?
routine project on projects can be achieved if the project manager leads the project sponsors to clearly define the purpose of the project and what would constitute a successful project resolution. Starting with planning or task work can result in unnecessary rework. Stakeholders should also be involved in defining and planning.
What principle is true about the steps involved when defining project success?
Specifying nonessential parameters is as important as specifying essential ones.
A project will have a long payback period. What should the project be linked to thus increasing the chances the project will be approved?
Satisfaction of strategic goals can be a major selling point when seeking project approval.
A correct term related to WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)
A task is a function to be performed that is detailed enough for proposals to indicate cost, schedule, and readiness and completion criteria.
If an organization has narrowed the list of contractors submitting proposals but is still having trouble deciding between them, what could help?
Bidder presentations
What is an example of how project managers apply sound management techniques?
An example of sound management technique is to ensure tasks are measured accurately so they can be managed. In this example, if a task stays at the same percent complete despite reported progress the task could be broken down further, so it can be more accurately measured. Project managers can spot check some details, but not every detail. Project managers avoid takin on technical project tasks. Project managers avoid becoming a bottleneck as would occur if approval were required for every work package.
