Properties Of Water Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
What are Polar Molecules?
A
A molecule where one end has a slightly positive charge and the other has a slightly negative charge (E.g. H2O)
2
Q
What are Non-Polar Molecules?
A
Molecules where charges are evenly distributed across the molecule, resulting in no positive or negative poles (E.g. CH4)
3
Q
What are the states of matter?
A
Solid
Liquid
Gas
Aqueous (dissolves in water)
4
Q
What are the general solubility rules?
A
Group 1 and ammonium compounds are soluble.
Nitrates, acetates and most chlorides are soluble.
Carbonates, phosphates and sulfides are mostly insoluble.
