RELAY PUMPING
``` EITHER MAX DISTANCE OR CONSTANT PRESSURE (MAX VOLUME) ```
33
MAXIMUM DISTANCE
2,050' FOR 5" HOSE PDP IS 185 FOR 4" 5" (200 FOR 2.5" 3") DIVIDE TOTAL LENGTH BY 2,050 ADD PUMPER FOR REMAINDER
34
CONSTANT PRESSURE
750' SECTIONS FOR 5" HOSE PDP IS 175 GIVES YOU 1607 GPM
35
MILE
5,280'
36
Hand method 1 3/4"
``` 100=1x12 125=2x9 150=3x9 175=4x9 200=5x9 Good for 150 and above ```
37

44
LIKE VOLUMES
0-10%: 3 11-15%: 2 16-25%: 1 MAINTAIN 20 PSI OR MORE AT INTAKE
45
ENGINE PRESSURE/PUMP DISCHARGE PRESSURE
``` EP/PDP=NP+THFL+AL+EP NOZZLE PRESSURE TOTAL HOSE FRICTION LOSS APPLIANCE LOSS ELEVATION GAIN/LOSS ```
46
STANDPIPE
ALWAYS CALCULATE, 150 PSI IS JUST FOR SPRINKLERS | IF PRV CALCULATE BASED ON TOTAL HEIGHT OF THE STANDPIPE
47
DROP 10 METHOD VS CQ2L
SAME FROM 160 TO 300 PSI
48
Like Volumes First Digit Method
``` Static: 90; Residual 70 Take first digit of static (9) times multipliers 1 x 9 = 9 2 x 9 = 18 3 x 9 = 27 Compare change (20 psi) 0-9 is 1 like volume 10-18 is 2 like volumes 19-27 is 3 ```
49
Booster line
Elkhart 3F Min: 50 psi gives you 5 gpm, FL of 0.5 psi per 100', 51 PDP. MINNIE mouse has the booster at the lowest because she's weak. She uses the LACE of her skirt to make a LAW badge to look official. Max: 115 psi gives you 65 gpm, FL of 65 psi per 100', 245 PDP. the robot MAXIMILLION has the highest because he's strong. He TIES minnie's TAIL to a JAIL cell so he can take over. NOAH ROLLS two rhino's like bowling balls to bash the jail and set her free. Mod: 100 psi gives you 35 gpm, FL of 18 psi per 100', 135 PDP. Dieter the MOD tries to make peace by offering DAISIES to minnie and MAIL to max becasue he's a dumb robot. Max TIES the MAIL to Dieter who gets stuck to the jail again.
50
LDH pressure rating
Tested at 200 psi equals 185 operating psi
51
Condensed Q
Field method for 5" (also 3 and 4") Q^2 / 15 = FL per 100'
52
Connecting to an FDC
You can break the plastic but if you hit the bolts horizontally, they should break right off which is cleaner. Connect a hose to every input on the FDC manifold. If swivel is frozen: 1) twist your hose the opposite way a bunch of times before connecting; 2) get a double male and double female from the rig If clogged with trash or completely broken just go inside and connect to the FDC on the first floor (unless PRV, then it won't work).
53
Hydrants
Class C - Red - > 500 GPM Class B - Orange - 500 - 999 GPM Class A - Green - 1,000-1,499 GPM Class AA - Light Blue - 1,500 GPM or greater The more important metric is intake pressure. That’s what dictates how many lines you can pull. Water dept can boost pressure or gpm
