What did Archer et al find out in Nike identities?- social class

A

W/C identified selves as “Nike” in comparison to M/C “Gucci”. W/C students drew symbolic capital from wearing these clothes. Students have negative outlooks of educational prospects, however development of “Nike” identities led these students to clash w teachers over wearing trainers instead of shoes, led them to being further marginalised in education.

A

sexual double standards exist when we apply one set of moral standards to group but different set for another.
Sue Lees found this in which boys brag about sexual exploits whereas girls labelled as “slags” if did same. Sexual conquest is way of gaining status for boys.
