Q3: Formwork Design Flashcards
(3 cards)
1
Q
What is the key principle of formwork design?
A
Design to contain concrete without leakage, using steel or plywood panels (AS 3610, Week 6).
2
Q
How is concrete pressure calculated in a pressure diagram?
A
Hydrostatic pressure = 10 kPa/m height
E.g. 20 kPa at 2m base, no wind per exam rules.
3
Q
How should formwork resist concrete pressure?
A
Use adequate thickness (e.g. 20mm plywood with steel backing) and bracing; support with props or falsework (Week 6).
