How do quality control and quality assurance differ?
Quality assurance= the system of administrative activities, procedures, policies, guidelines and regulations which ensure quality in the processes that the product is developed with
Quality control= regular checks for product defects and monitoring carried out during the manufacture of the product
QC detects deviations and QA prevents deviations
QC can change the quality of a product but QA does not
QC finds and gets rid of quality problems through tools and equipment whereas QA establishes good quality management systems
QC is the responsibility of the testing team whereas QA is the responsibility of the whole team
QA includes SOPs, training of staff and management, documentation, monitoring performance of suppliers whereas QC includes inspections, product sampling , labelling, cleanliness and sterilisation
QC is a short term activity carried out in the final stages whereas QA is a long term process carried out throughout the whole product design and development period
