Why is variation important in any population
Variation is important for any population because of the mutations which increase or decrease fitness allowing them to adapt.
What is the difference between environmental and inherited variation?
Inherited variation is genetic. It comes from the genes passed down from parents to offspring. This type of variation is responsible for characteristics like eye color, natural hair color, blood type, and genetic disorders.
Environmental variation is caused by the surroundings or lifestyle. It includes factors such as diet, climate, culture, accidents, and experiences. For example, scars, language spoken, or sun tan are due to environmental influences.
What is the difference between discontinuous and continuous variation data
Discontinuous – Has to be either one thing or the other.
E.g. Hair colour, Eye colour.
Continuous – Can have any value (can be measured with a ruler)
E.g. Height, Weight, Finger Length.
